The
North Shore
Before
we enter in earnest into the project preparations we go on a hike
on the North shore. Our new friend Bob shares his taste for the extreme
with us. We explore a steep ravine and swing a suspension bridge as
hard as we can. Climbing up the side of the gorge a rock the size
of a baby bear plunges down beside me and lands in the stream, everyone
thinks I died but here I am holding on to this tree root (root tee
toot).
We
meet with three groups and go to a protest in the space of three or
four days all of these encounters are extremely interesting, it feels
good to have started the “worky”. We meet a homeless man
named Marcel who lives in a tent-city. Eating sushi and talking about
life in his living room under a blue tarp, it feels special to have
this poor man treat us with such hospitality and generosity.
Our
friend Yolanda sends us off with a bulging bag full of bulging granola
bars. We’re set! This wicked energy food will make the next
few days much more pleasant.
